About Ülemiste City
Ülemiste City is a contemporary city district located at the 36-hectare territory of the former Dvigatel factory in the immediate vicinity of Tallinn Airport and home for a large number of innovative companies. The objective of the development is to grow the Smart City into the largest knowledge-based business environment in the Baltics.
Development of the campus began in 2005. By now, a well-functioning economic structure has been established. More than 120 00 m² of modern office space has been created to complement ca 125 000 m² of industrial and warehouse area. By 2014, close to 340 companies operate in Ülemiste City employing ca 8000 people.
Great location is one of the advantages of Ülemiste City. The campus is located close to the main highways Tartu mnt and Peterburi mnt, just 700 metres from the Tallinn international airport, 300 metres from Ülemiste train station, and only 10 minutes drive from the heart of Tallinn. Ülemiste City can also be accessed by public transport from most of the other districts of Tallinn.
Companies and their employees find additional value from large shopping centres close to the campus, Kalli-kalli kindergarten operating at the campus, Tallinn European School, Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences (EUAS), bicycle parking house, cafés, park etc. Large car parks have been created to accommodate close to 2000 cars.
Ülemiste City is a unique and inspiring environment promoting creativity and impulsiveness. In order to respect Estonian history of science, all new and renovated buildings at Ülemiste City are named after great figures of Estonian science. For example, there are buildings named after Ludvig Puusepp, Walter Zapp, Ragnar Nurkse, Ustus Agur, Artur Lind, Johannes Käis, Boris Tamm and Ernst Julius Öpik.
Two thirds of Ülemiste City is being developed by Mainor Ülemiste AS. One third is being developed by Technopolis Ülemiste AS, 51% of which belongs to the Finnish publicly listed company Technopolis Plc that operates in the field of business real estate and supporting services.
